One of the most recognisable names, face and voices in Finnish popular culture, M.A.Numminen was born in 1940 in Somero, Finland, and lives in Helsinki. He studied philosophy, sociology and linguistics at Helsinki University. Since the 1960s, Numminen has performed and composed neorustical jazz, electronic music, pop and opera. He has turned philosophical texts into sound, made movies, written poetry and is a tango expert. He has published numerous books and recordings and never seems to run out of new ideas.
