Lehtojärven Hirvenpää is a band that plays tango for our age, originating in Finnish Lapland. Harri Kuusijärvi composes these songs that give a progressive twist to traditional Finnish schlager or iskelmä; vocalist Jaakko Laitinen’s lyrics give them even more depth, exploring the very foundations and structures of life and reality. Everyday subjects come about, such as the harsh northern nature or the working life, but these are gateways to the ecological, metaphysical and the cosmological; the mysterious twists of the mind or the miraculous extremes of the outer space. The band consists of Laitinen (vocals), Kuusijärvi (accordion), Tuomas Timonen (drums) and Sara Puljula (upright bass).
